Her art – while faithful to the standards of traditional pictorial techniques – is not, however, a simple revival of the classical humanist spirit. The world Laturnus celebrates in her paintings combines at once the human dignity of the classical spirit with the idiosyncratic, sometimes darker twists of the true human character and being.
