Katherine Laturnus

Painter

In a world headed towards the eventuality of non-biological life forms, the art of Katherine Laturnus brings the focus back to the classical passion for humans, as we know them.

Her art – while faithful to the standards of traditional pictorial techniques – is not, however, a simple revival of the classical humanist spirit. The world Laturnus celebrates in her paintings combines at once the human dignity of the classical spirit with the idiosyncratic, sometimes darker twists of the true human character and being. Sparks of mystery, sensuality, mischief, and decadence intermingle freely with the calm composure and calculated equilibrium of her compositions.
